McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Trademark Docketing Specialist in our Richmond office. The Trademark Docketing Specialist is responsible for the management and administration of the firm's trademark database, and ensuring the accuracy of the data. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of database technologies and trademark prosecution.

  • Retrieves emails from the firm’s centralized trademarks email in-box; dockets information in the Firm’s trademark docketing software database (WebTMS) and forwards it to the appropriate attorneys/paralegals on a daily basis. Dockets incoming/outgoing emails on trademark matters and correspondence in the database on a daily basis
  • Adds new records for agents, new clients and existing clients to the Firm’s trademark docketing software database and ensures accuracy of data         
  • Maintains a high level of quality, accuracy and integrity of information in database
  • Generates regular trademark status reports for dissemination to clients
  • Periodically audits records to ensure accuracy of others’ work and that all Office Actions have been entered with regard to U.S and international records
  • Provides trademark attorneys and paralegals with pre-defined or custom reports as requested
  • Assists trademark paralegals with tasks and projects related to database management or docketing as requested



  • College degree preferred and three to five years of trademark and computerized docketing experience or college degree in computer science or equivalent degree
  • WebTMS database experience preferrred
  • Ability to identify needs and propose solutions
  • Strong research and problem solving skills
  • PC Skills (Word, Excel, Access, Internet) and other firm provided software
  • Ability to pinpoint problems, track down the cause and provide quick resolution
  • High level of attention to detail
