McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Litigation Case Assistant in our Richmond office. The legal case assistant provides support to paralegals and attorneys in the Products and Consumer Litigation group. Qualities possessed by an ideal candidate include a minimum of two to three years of general/clerical legal experience in the litigation department of a law firm, an eye for detail and accuracy, and strong organizational skills.

  • Organizes, labels and files electronic and hard copies of case materials as directed
  • Researches and retrieves documents from case management systems (FileSite, eRoom, Pacer, and Relativity) as requested
  • Assists with deposition and trial preparation as directed
  • Maintains active case files electronically and in hard copy, retrieves resolved case files as requested and prepares closed matters for off-site storage
  • Assists with document collection and maintaining eRooms
  • Processes production letters and other case correspondence and pleadings
  • Organizes document productions and prepares indices of document productions as requested



  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience working in a law firm environment preferred; Requires high school diploma or equivalent with some college education preferred and one to two years law office clerical or general office experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent technical skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) is required
  • Familiarity with case management systems and/or E-Discovery platforms (FileSite, eRoom, Pacer, and Relativity) is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate filing skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate directly with multiple lawyers and paralegals on team
