McGuireWoods has an immediate need for a Litigation/eDiscovery Case Assistant role in our Richmond, VA office. This case assistant works under the direction of a paralegal and performs various tasks such as document numbering/collection/organization, labeling folders, filing and various other projects.

  • Assist with identification, preservation, collection, analysis, tracking, processing, searching, review, and production of paper and electronic discovery materials.
  • Organizes, labels and files case materials. Also, prepare shipping labels/materials for shipment.
  • Maintains and organizes supplies to support client matters, including distribution of supplies and case files for special projects/events such as trial and on-site document reviews, collections and productions. 
  • Maintains and retrieves case files as requested and prepares closed matters for off-site storage. 
  • Assists with document collection and maintaining e-rooms. Bates labels documents as needed.
  • Organizes/process document productions (letters and other case correspondence/pleadings) and prepares indices of document productions.


  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent with some college education preferred and one to two years law office clerical or general office experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, filing skills, organization skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) is required. 
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support trial needs and/or collection of documents.
  • Ability to utilize all firm provided software packages as required. Willing to learn practice or department specific databases or software as necessary.
