Overview

McGuireWoods has a need for an experienced Paralegal to join its Tax & Employee Benefits team in Charlottesville, VA.  This paralegal will be responsible for preparing tax returns and drafting legal documents related to trust and estate administration, will be relied upon as a subject matter expert in the preparation of fiduciary, estate, and gift tax documents, and will provide paralegal support in probate and trust matters.  The ideal candidate will have several years of experience, with a keen eye for organization and detail as it relates to the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estate tax returns, gift tax returns, and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Assist in preparing, filing, and organizing legal documents, agreements, inventories, and accountings related to trust and estate administration
  • Draft estate-related documents, including assignments, receipts, and correspondence
  • Manage probate estate process and procedures

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of trust and estate paralegal experience preferred; candidates with an accounting background, specifically in fiduciary, gift, and estate tax return preparation will be given special? consideration
  • Bachelor's degree and professional, tax, or paralegal certification preferred; related experience in lieu of formal education required
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills required
