    McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Legal Hold Discovery Analyst to join our team in the Richmond, VA office.  This role supports the Office of General Counsel and will be instrumental in protecting and safeguarding the firm’s enterprise data assets. In accordance with ethical and legal requirements, the analyst will manage incoming and outgoing file transfers, legal holds, subpoenas and discovery requests, audits, and other services/products governing the Firm’s client and administrative data. The ideal candidate will have five to seven years of related experience and will have a strong understanding of document management systems, servers, and information governance processes.

    • Assist with file transfers for departing lawyers by copying documents from FileSite, Shared Drives, Databases, and eRooms to the practice support site.
    • Assist with incoming file transfers for lateral attorneys including downloading files from FTP site, disks, thumb drives, or any other electronic media received from the transferring law firm to the designated folder(s).
    • Assist with responding to third party subpoenas and discovery directed to the firm.
    • Maintain list of clients with specific guidelines regarding data security and browse various network stores for unsecured folders, verify those that are secured.
    • In the attorney departure process determine number of files stored outside of FileSite
    • Upon request, audit compliance with the firm policy regarding filing of client and firm information.


    • Requires Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, business administration, or related field.
    • Legal background and in-depth knowledge of litigation process preferred.
    • 5-7+ years of experience preferred.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications is required and experience with Relativity and R Studio a plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of document management systems, preferably with iManage, to organize data, documents and information in a meaningful and accessible manner.
    • Strong knowledge of legal information management and/or information governance processes with an aptitude in critical thinking.
    • Must be capable of analyzing data, understanding technology and communicating complex or technical topics to those with no prior knowledge of the firm’s systems and policies.
