    McGuireWoods Consulting (MWC) is seeking a Research Associate - Event & Association Management Coordinator to support the consulting firm’s association and coalition clients. The individual will be responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of events for MWC’s association clients, including handling event materials, event promotion and registration. The individual will also manage MWC’s association clients including the management of expenses, filings and budgeting; recording minutes; handling continuing education credits; administering political action committees (PAC); and maintaining association records.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and coordinate events for clients including workshops, conferences, receptions, fundraisers, retreats, legislative summits and roundtables.
    • Develop and coordinate event materials including invitations (print & electronic), programs, signage, and name badges.
    • Coordinate event promotion and registration with in-house digital team.
    • Manage finances and filings for association clients including maintain monthly finances including revenues and expenses through use of Excel and Quick Books; manage payment of invoices and disbursement of funds; assist with annual budgeting process.
    • Submit annual filings and year-end financials, tax returns and other state regulatory filings.
    • Administer political action committee (PAC).
    • Coordinate and manage Continuing Education credits process.

     

    Qualifications

    • Requires Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of experience.
    • Experience with an association.
    • Interest in politics or public policy.
    • Political campaign experience and/or communications is a plus.
    • Excellent writing skills required. A two to four page writing sample will be requested during the interview process.
    • Advanced language skills to include reading, writing, analyzing and interpreting complex instruction, correspondence, legal documents, financial reports and/or technical documents. Ability to respond effectively to clients, employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications.
