    McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Corporate Practice Assistant/Legal Secretary to support attorneys in the M&A, Energy and Private Equity Transactions, and Real Estate and Land Use practice groups in our Norfolk office. The assistant will support attorneys with legal and administrative tasks to include time entry/billing, calendaring, travel arrangements, opening and closing of files, scheduling, document preparation and management and other special projects. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing, reviewing, and organizing documents for real estate transactions.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares, edits, blacklines and formats legal documents, including closing documents, loan documents and leases
    • Assists in coordinating title review process and closings
    • Manages attorneys’ calendars, coordinates meetings, schedules conference rooms, and makes travel arrangements as required
    • Assists with billing process to include entering attorney time, reviewing pro formas (initiates transfers), editing and preparing draft/final bills and cover letters for clients
    • Prepares forms for expense reports, check requests, reprographic services, etc.
    • Prepares legal documents and correspondence from drafts and/or dictation

     

    Qualifications

    • Minimum five years supporting corporate/transactional attorneys in a law firm setting 
    • 3-5 years of previous real estate experience including closings and coordination of title company issues preferred
    • Must be proficient with MS Office 2013
    • Preferred experience in e-filing, time entry and billing software (Elite), and expense reimbursement software (ChromeRiver)
    • Must be highly organized and a self-starter
