    McGuireWoods has an opening for a Practice Assistant in the Products and Consumer Litigation group in our Pittsburgh office. The assistant will support attorneys with legal and administrative tasks, including document management, opening and closing of files, calendaring, travel arrangements, meeting/conference scheduling and other special projects. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting a busy litigation practice, be proficient in Microsoft Office 2013 and database management, and comfortable using a variety of legal software platforms.

    • Prepares legal documents and correspondence from draft or dictated text
    • Utilizes knowledge of court rules to e-file documents appropriately
    • Maintains client and firm files; opens and closes files according to Records Department procedures
    • Manages attorneys’ calendars, coordinates meetings, schedules conference rooms, and makes travel arrangements as required
    • Assists with billing process to include entering attorney time, reviewing pro formas (initiates transfers), editing and preparing draft/final bills and cover letters for clients
    • Prepares forms for expense reports, check requests, reprographic services, etc.
    • Opens, prioritizes and distributes mail. Coordinates mailing, deliveries, and copying


    • Requires high school diploma or GED or and two years of related legal experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Five or more years of litigation experience is preferred.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and Elite (or other comparable time entry software)
    • Professional demeanor
    • Excellent communication skills
