    McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Library Assistant in our Chicago, IL office.   This position is primarily responsible for performing clerical functions to maintain the library. The ideal candidate will have library experience, preferably in a legal environment.

    • Process all incoming library mail for assigned offices, including sorting, maintaining inventory control records and routing
    • Process charge-backs for on-line services for assigned offices, providing reports as directed
    • Prepare newly received materials for shelving in assigned offices
    • Assist with maintenance of the library collection, which includes shelving, circulating, routing, shifting and relocating library materials as needed
    • Prepare library materials to be routed for assigned offices and maintain necessary and appropriate records
    • Retrieve materials from online databases as needed
    • Maintain newspaper and periodical collections, including selection of materials for binding and weeding


    • Requires high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Library experience in a legal environment is highly preferred
    • Basic accounting skills a must
    • Ability to operate copy machines and other standard office equipment
    • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
    • Ability to use library automation systems
