    The McGuireWoods Consulting Communications & Mobilization Assistant is responsible for assisting senior campaign and communications practitioners execute sophisticated grassroots, communications & digital campaigns on behalf of our clients.

     

     

    McGuireWoods Consulting’s in-house advocacy & mobilization team, MWCAdvocacy, features a combination of campaign pros and communications specialists who work together collaboratively to help ensure our clients achieve business success. We design and manage customized grassroots, communications and digital campaigns to shape policy debates, impact perceptions and enhance legal strategies. As veterans of political campaigns, newsrooms and industry communication practices, we thrive on competitive circumstances, fluid situations and tight deadlines treating each client as if it was a political campaign, where coming in second place is a bitter outcome.     Responsibilities

    • Work collaboratively as part of a team under guidance of senior, experienced campaign professionals
    • Generate public displays of support for critical client projects, including infrastructure, economic development, healthcare and other interests
    • Mobilize public displays of support through media, online, to decision makers at the local, state and federal level

    Qualifications

    • Requires Bachelor’s Degree and 1-4 years of campaign experience. Field or communications work a plus
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a larger team to mobilize voters and activists. Experience in working with media for a campaign a plus
    • Excellent writing skills required. Writing sample encouraged, including social media posts on behalf of a candidate, ghost written op-eds, speeches, mail or fundraising / volunteer pitches
    • Ability to respond effectively and comfortably with clients, more senior co-workers and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications
    • Online research skills required
    • The ability to communicate complex issues in short, convincing arguments via telephone, email or in-person
    • Social media / content management a plus
