McGuireWoods LLP is looking for a Transactional Practice Administrative Assistant in our Los Angeles - Century City office. The Practice Administrative Assistant will provide high level administrative support to Partners and Senior Attorneys. The ideal candidate will excel in a team environment, have excellent communication skills, and will have experience working on detailed projects in a transactional/corporate department at a law firm, corporate law department, accounting firm or similar organization.

  • Organizing and maintaining databases and spreadsheets to track and manage the status of transactional matters and projects
  • Working directly with Partners and Senior Attorneys to assist in the categorization of various legal projects as required by client billing standards
  • Monitoring and calendaring pay points and milestones of legal projects
  • Interfacing between and among Partners, Senior Attorneys and McGuireWoods billing department to ensure projects are properly categorized and billed
  • Working with attorneys to request Purchase Orders utilizing client-established software programs and databases


  • Bachelor's degree preferred and a minimum of two years of experience working for a law firm or corporate law department in a transactional/corporate department, an accounting firm and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excel experience required 
  • Excellent proofreading skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 2013 and/or current version and in the creation, assembly and/or manipulation of PDF files using Adobe Acrobat
