McGuireWoods has an opening for an IT Procurement Manager in the Richmond, VA office. The IT Procurement Manager serves as a part of the Business Services team in the procurement of IT related goods, services, and subscriptions. Furthermore, the position serves as the vendor relationship manager for all IT related spend and is responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of firm – wide third party IT vendor engagements over the life of such engagements to include holding vendors accountable to contractual agreements and mitigating risks associated with their utilization.

  • Manage firm-specific programs contracted from designated key suppliers.  Identify and communicate any new programs, products, etc. to maintain currency.  Serve as an escalation point for local office contacts as necessary. 
  • Participate in IT Focused project meetings to include working with designated managers and subject matter experts in identifying requirements and providing research and viable options/alternatives for goods and services.   
  • Obtain NDA’s from identified vendors as needed and continually develop and maintain relationships in order that they can provide information, services and products at competitive pricing and preferably on a national and/or international contract basis as necessary.   
  • Manage and serve as the main point of contact for both internal customers (IT  Department and associated stakeholders) and bidders in the preparation, distribution and award process of Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), Requests for Information/ Quotes (RFI’s/ RFQ’s) and Proof of Concept (POC) evaluations, each conforming to established guidelines. 
  • Coordinate the purchase or lease of goods and services as requested by internal customers using established guidelines to ensure competitive bidding and contract negotiation procedures. 
  • Assist in the preparation of  the annual budgets and/ or monthly variances for designated GL Accounts for review by the appropriate director or manager. 
  • Review and approve Purchase Orders, Project Invoices, Maintenance Renewals, and Subscriptions for payment; ensuring accuracy. 


  • Requires Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to set-up, direct and manage Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), Requests for Information, (RFI’s) Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) and Proof of Concept Evaluations (POC’s) is essential.
  • The ability to negotiate financials, standard terms and conditions, and service level agreements (SLA’s) on contracts, software agreements, Statements of Work (SOW’s) and other project engagements is essential.
  • The understanding and ability to negotiate firm standard term NDA requirements with vendors is essential.
  • Candidate should have experience with IT VAR (Value Added Reseller) agreements  in order to understand the intricacies of negotiating Software Agreements.
  • Must be able to work in a fast- paced, multiple priority environment.
  • Prior experience in a law firm environment is preferred.
