Overview

McGuireWoods has a need for a Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence and MarTech to join the team in the Charlotte, NC office.  The Sr. Manager assists the digital marketing, business development, event administration, and communication teams in running efficiently and cost-effectively in delivering measurable and meaningful returns on the firm’s marketing investment. This role focuses primarily on these areas: return on marketing investment, tracking marketing expenses, budgeting/forecasting, and oversight of marketing/sales enablement-related technologies and databases, including DealCloud, Foundation, HighQ, and others. In addition, the Sr. Manager will work with the Chief Marketing Officer and designees on annual marketing and business budgets, forecasts, reports to the Finance Committee, and related activities, and will assist the department with the administrative aspects of employee relations, including evaluation, compensation, hiring, termination and related functions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for financial oversight of marketing budgets, including budgeting, tracking and analysis of spend against budget across all areas, including departments, industry teams, offices, key accounts (including but not limited to anchors), marketing tech, pro bono, D&I, alumni relations, lateral integration, and firm-wide marketing.
  • Oversees post-mortems on major initiatives based on empirical and anecdotal inputs to assure, to the extent possible, that the firm is getting a strong ROI.
  • Delivers timely after-action reports to Marketing/Business Development and firm leadership on major events, including but not limited to large-scale conferences such as Healthcare Private Equity, Independent Sponsors, Emerging Managers, Healthcare Finance, and the Annual Partner Meeting.
  • Works with the Chief Marketing Officer and their direct reports on annual Marketing/Business Development budgets, forecasts, reports to the Finance Committee and investment in technology projects.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience, including prior management experience.
  • In-depth understanding of the field's concepts and principles.
  • Performs complex tasks and has some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.
  • Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
