Overview

McGuireWoods is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Data Analytics team. This position is available in our Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Baltimore, Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, Washington DC, Tysons, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Los Angeles offices. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Python/RStudio and approach their work with a consultative and curious mindset. 

 

MWAccel has three service lines. The first one involves the client-facing and client-billable data analytics work. The second is the legal operations work for clients. The third involves internal work — understanding how we can improve the delivery of legal services, how we run the firm, how we identify and adopt technology, and how we spend our dollars.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines, leveraging tools such as Airflow to ensure efficient data processing and workflow orchestration.
  • Perform data analysis using Python (or RStudio) to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Apply statistical methods to interpret data and support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Create clear and compelling visualizations and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
  • Work effectively under tight deadlines to deliver high-quality results within specified timeframes.
  • Continuously monitor data quality and integrity to ensure accuracy and reliability of analyses.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of data analytics experience in a legal firm or similar environment.
  • Experience in developing and managing ETL pipelines, preferably using Airflow.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, particularly with T-Tests.
  • Experience in Python (or RStudio) for data manipulation, and analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and optimize performance.
  • Experience with Linux server administration and Docker container management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate agility and effectiveness under tight deadlines to deliver high-quality results within specified timeframes.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, other Sciences).
