Overview

McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Trust Accountant to join the Treasury and Trust Accounting team in our Richmond, VA office.  The Trust Accountant will ensure that all receipts and disbursements are recorded accurately and timely and in accordance with state bar guidelines and Firm policy. As well, they will coordinate all trust account activity and confirm information regarding the movement of client funds via various online banking systems.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform these tasks with an extreme attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all trust receipts and disbursements are recorded in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with state bar guidelines and Firm policy. 
  • Coordinate all trust account activity and confirm information regarding the movement of client funds. 
  • Oversee all aspects of trust investment activities. 
  • Prepare and maintain trust ledger reports for each client. 
  • Prepare quarterly analysis statements for clients and communicate to responsible attorney. 
  • Prepare monthly account and bank reconciliations. 
  • Research client trust activity, as requested. 
  • Assist with cash management activities as required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and related business experience. 
  • Must have a minimum of three years of related accounting experience if not degreed.
  • Must be flexible, organized and able to work under time constraints/deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Professional telephone etiquette is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, MS Word.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to adequately service our clients.
